2024 Poster Artist – Lorenzo Sánchez

Lorenzo Sánchez is a bilingual native New Mexican. Lorenzo grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he graduated. Lorenzo attended New Mexico State University and the University of Arizona. He received a Bachelor or Arts Degree in Horticulture in 1979. His Post-Baccalaureate was in Bilingual Multicultural Education in 1988.  Lorenzo worked, developed, and ran a garden based Science and Nutrition Program in Tucson Public Schools. He taught in Tucson Unified School District. In 1988, he returned to his roots to become a dual language educator in Albuquerque Public Schools. He taught in K-4 classrooms at Eugene Field Elementary, Lew Wallace Elementary, Emerson Elementary and Longfellow Elementary. He also taught Fine Arts for K-5 at Longfellow Elementary. Lorenzo also worked as a Professional Development Coordinator for Dual Language Education of New Mexico for 2 years. Lorenzo has studied figurative/portrait painting, plein air landscape, and abstract expressionism. He continues to study and develop his skills as an artist. He currently lives in Jacona, New Mexico with his lovely wife, Lisa Valdez. He is a full time abuelo (Pampo) for his 6 grandchildren.
